As a result, we may be talking about totally different ideas and phenomena while using the same word "innovation." You will find that assigned articles devote significant attention to the operationalization of innovativeness - the way it is measured. There are lots of alternatives at your disposal: number of patents filed/received, R&D expenditures, personnel skills and knowledge, number of new products, subjective likert scales, and so forth.
