There are more than 150 million eligible voters in the U.S. and only a few hundred sugar growers. And yet, the sugar growers in the U.S. have succeeded in getting the U.s. Congress to pass legislation limiting the amount of sugar that can be importated into the U.S. The results is that we in the U.S. pay about twice the world price for sugar.
