1. Write the quantity
in the form ab for some positive integers a and b. Remember to state the general form of any formula you use and to write in complete sentences.
2. There are 7 distinct books in the biology library. You can check out at most 3 books at a time. In how many ways can you check out books? Compute the exact answer. (Remember, it is possible that you may not check out any book at all.)
3. There are 52 cards in a deck, among which 4 are Aces (each of a different suit). In how many ways can you distribute these cards to two people evenly (26 cards each) such that each person gets two Aces? The order of the cards in a person's hand does not matter. You need not compute the exact numerical answer. (Hint: think of distributing the aces as separate from distributing the rest of the cards.)
