The worlds population is growing at an exponential rate

A) In Canada, there are 71 000 recorded species of plants and animals. The overuse of native species and the introduction of non-native or invasive species threaten this biodiversity. In this summative activity, you will become an expert on a species that is currently at risk OR you will become an expert on an invasive species that has been brought to Canada. In either case, the species you investigate may be a plant, mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, or invertebrate (insect). Your teacher must approve your topic.

B) The world's population is growing at an exponential rate. With this increase in population come issues of limited resources, inappropriate distribution of resources, and exploiting the waters, space, and soil. In this summative activity, you will become an expert on a topic related to population, such as waste management, limited water supply or sustainable food production. Choose one of the topics and explain the scope of the topic and problem and possible solutions for the problem.

For both assignments, you must use the references cited in the unit to get you started. Once you have completed your research, submit your research notes to your teacher and create a brochure on the activity you have chosen to study. Your brochure must be able to fold three times and it must be five pages. Include facts, describe the situation, address the concern, and explore options and solutions. The brochure is educational in nature and must have references as well as sources for the reader to further research.
