The Wiretap Statute was the amendments of the Patriot Act. This statute requires probable cause from a judge for real-time interception of the content of voice and data communications. The problem with this statute is that probable cause is only based on one investigators opinion. Do we now live in a world that probable cause is with little restrictions? I am typically in favor of the Patriot Act if it is used and upheld appropriately.
