The use of language is important. Numbers provide understanding and insight. They are collected and presented to make a point, win an argument and promote new ways of thinking. It is so much more powerful if you can then say that the results are statistically significant. If statistical significance can be shown, then it offers explanation.
The following examples show the search for problem understanding, or misunderstanding, and the search for statistical significance.
