Discussion - Innovation and Competitive Advantage
The two innovative companies that I have chosen are Netflix and Walmart. Netflix started with a DVD rental service which allowed their customers to rent, watch, and return movies without ever leaving their house. They have since expanded to streaming movies with the option to download them and they also have their own original shows. There are other companies, such as Amazon, who have a streaming service, but none with the same options as Netflix. Walmart is innovative because they generally have lower prices on many items and they also allow for one-stop-shopping. They have recently started the online ordering with curb-side pick-up and delivery in some areas. This service is highly desired, especially for people with young children and the disabled who find it difficult to shop.
