Requirements:
Prepare a ten-minute presentation on a social aspect of computing. Give this presentation, and direct discussion on it for the next 15 minutes. Hand in a written essay on the topic, corresponding to the presentation.
# Here are some tips for generating discussion :-
1. Begin with a broad question that most people in the group can respond to.
2. Ask questions you're curious about. Be engaged yourself.
3. Ask participants to support their claims. Where did they get the information? How trustworthy is the source?
4. Avoid yes/no questions. Alternative: To what extent do you think??
5. Model respect for others' ideas. If you don't know how to respond to a comment or if someone says something that seems off base, repeat it for clarification and ask what others think e.g. You said "XXX." Did I understand you correctly? Would anyone like to respond?
6. Some sample question stems: What are the implications of ____________ for ___________ ? What would happen if? How might you account for the apparent contradiction between ____________ and ____________?
7. Don't forget to sum up at the end.
