The theme of the assignment is the reliability (or unreliability) of Assisted GPS Location Services in smart devices (Smart Phones, Tablets, Smart Cameras, etc.). John Easton (of IBM) stated in 2012 that 80% of all Big Data and data from the Internet of Things is of questionable veracity (Search for "Carrying out a big data readiness assessment" for the PDF article). Many businesses and researchers are wanting to use Big Data and Location Services to improve the effectiveness of their businesses. However, if the source data is of uncertain truthfulness, questions arise as to what needs to be done. There are 3 major elements to the report which will form the main chapters of the report:-
1. Introduction and Impact In order to set the context, you will need to introduce the key factors of your chosen aspect of Location Services and identify what aspect of business it will affect and the potential impact.
2. Evaluation of Governance Issues Identify and critically evaluate the governance issues (including risks, ethics and compliance) presented by the integration of this technology into the Business environment. Evaluate the Governance strategy that businesses and research organisations need to develop in order that value can be obtained from this large source of contaminated data.
3. Governance Strategy Proposal Apply your justified framework to the context of your problem to develop and justify a Sustainable Governance Strategy that will guide the development and implementation of your chosen aspect of Location Services based technologies.
