The role of suicide of othello and hedda students must also

Students will submit a typed, titled, double-spaced comparative essay of at least 1250 words, focusing on the plays Othello and Hedda Gabler, and considering one of the five topics listed below.

This essay must establish a clear argumentative thesis that ties the two plays together. Beyond just opinions of these plays, students are required to make direct references to relevant passages from both plays equally to receive full credit.

THE TOPIC IS: The role of suicide of Othello and HeddaStudents must also cite at least two critical secondary sources (found via EBSCOHOST, JSTOR, or another reputable critical database.)

NOTE: plot summaries are not secondary sources. Students are NOT permitted to use Wikipedia, Spark Notes, eNotes, or other plot summaries. Correct MLA style of documentation is required, including in-text citations and a works cited page (equating to 25% of the assignment value).

Remember that argumentative essays are only effective if the argument being made actually NEEDS to be made. In other words, it is unacceptable to argue something that no reasonable person would disagree with (like holding the opinion that Tuesday follows Monday).

For example, one could not claim the opinion that "both Cassio and Lovborg have had drinking problems." In fact, that "opinion" would be irrefutable because no intelligent reader would be able to deny that it was true.
