2) The Realists were dedicated to justice for the working class, the ordinary people of society. Courbet was actually imprisoned as a result of his involvement in the rebellion against uniformity. Courbet was in prison for six months in 1871 and then was exiled to Switzerland until his death in 1873. Do you feel that Courbet made a lasting impression on the political world as well as the art world?
