The topic I chose was drugs, however since drugs are a very broad subject I decided to focus on the section of drug addiction.

The title I selected for my essay is Say No To Drugs.

The purpose of my research is to examine drug addiction and how it affects Canada and its citizens. I want to also look at the factors of drug addiction, as well as what can be done to stop it and prevent it. This essay will help understand the factors that cause drug addiction. Another question to ask is how does a person get addicted? Is it because they are being influenced? Is society corrupted? My thesis for my essay is against drug addiction, it’s for a persuasive essay, and it answers the question what crime affects Canadians the most?Drug addiction is a serious problem that is affecting Canadians and must be taught to avoid its prolongation.

The subtopics I am using to explain why drug addictions affect so many Canadians:

No single factor determines whether a person will become addicted to drugs: As with any supplementary diseases, exposure to addiction varies from person to person. In general, the further risk factors an individual has, the superior the chance that taking drugs will lead to abuse and addiction. "Protective" aspects reduce a person's risk of evolving addiction. The inclusive risk for addiction is obstructed by the natural makeup of the individual - it can even be influenced by gender or culture, his or her environment. For example, conditions at home, at school, and in the neighborhood. Scientist’s assessment that hereditary factors account for between a person's vulnerability to addiction, including the effects of environment on gene expression and function. Juveniles and individuals with mental disorders are at greater risk of drug abuse and addiction than the common population.

Home and Family: The sway of the home atmosphere is typically most important in childhood. Parents or older family members who abuse alcohol or drugs, or who participate in criminal behavior, can surge children's risks of developing their own drug problems. For example, their mother consumes alcohol every day, although the child does not know it’s a bad thing he would also consume it.

Peer and School: Friends and associates have the utmost influence during adolescence. Drug-abusing peers can influence even those without risk factors to try drugs for the first time. Educational failure or poor social skills can put a child additional at risk for drug abuse.

Early Use: Even though taking drugs at any age can lead to addiction, research shows that the earlier a person begins to use drugs the more likely they are to progress to more serious abuse. This may reflect the destructive effect that drugs can have on the evolving brain; it also may result from an assemblage of early biological and social liability factors, including genetic proneness, mental illness, insecure family relationships, and experience to physical or sexual abuse. Still, the fact remains that early use is a strong display of problems ahead, among them, substance abuse and addiction.

Method of Administration: Smoking a drug or injecting it into a vein increases its addictive prospective. Both smoked and injected drugs enter the brain within seconds, producing a powerful rush of pleasure. However, this intense "high" can fade within a few minutes, taking the abuser down to lower, more normal levels. It is a starkly felt contrast, and scientists believe that this low feeling drives individuals to repeated drug abuse in an attempt to recapture the high pleasurable state.

The importance of this study is that affects all everyone’s daily lives, it’s something that is kept secret sometimes and then surprises us when it is revealed. Drug addiction can be seen by a sociological, psychological and anthropological point of view, drug addiction has a major impact on the economy. Drug addiction evolves over time and drugs are a challenge in society that we have to deal with. Drugs affect every Canadian daily life and we as a society need to avoid its prolongation. Drugs addict people and affects Canadian society in a physically, emotionally, and in a domestic and universal context.
