Management and leadership, although not the same conceptually, do share several functions- planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling-and require similar technical, human, conceptual, and future-oriented skills. Likert's systems of management, Blake and Mouton's Managerial Grid, Vroom and Yetton's leader-participation model, and Kuhnert and Lewis's transactional leadership theories provide a broad perspective on the management styles found in organizations.
