Assessment Guidelines:
The Learner is to complete a Project discussing the issues relating to the Care of the Older Person. Please refer to the assessment criteria below which highlight the areas to be included in the project:
Assessment Criteria:
• Outline the role of the Health Care Assistant (HCA) in the day to day provision of care or the Older person.
• Explore the range of the Older person's needs in relation to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
• Explore the role of the HCA in the promotion of positive ageing.
• Explore the role of the HCA in the recognition of cultural differences amongst Older People.
• Outline the requirements for effective communication with an Older Person.
• Explore the needs of the care staff who work with Older People.
• Discuss services available to the Older Person in Ireland.
