The Kardex System:
This system was introduced by the Remington Rand of India, Ltd. It is a type of visible record system maintained in a steel filing cabinet. Each unit cabinet contains seven trays in all providing more than 500 card holders. Each card holder can hold two cards, a Bottom Card and a Top Card. A Bottom Card is prepared for every journal when ordered, with its title and other particulars typed or written on the lower portion of the card. The Top Card is placed opposite the Bottom Card in the next Card Holder so that both cards become visible side by side. It is the Top Card that serves the purpose of keeping record of payments made to the suppliers while the Bottom Card helps to watch out for the receipt and non-receipt of periodicals.
