Research Proposal on the Protection of Health Information within the Healthcare System in the US

Healthcare is one of the primary services availed to the society. However, to achieve its delivery, health professionals must have enough access to information concerning the patient. To receive suitable, safe and effective care, a patient has to provide personal data which the healthcare provider must handle with significant confidentiality. Upholding confidentiality is becoming a hard task in healthcare today.

The increasing exchange of health information by a large number of people who can get involved in patient care as well as the treatment process of the patient can pose the risk of unauthorized access and exposure of information pertaining a specific patient.

The protection of health information calls for high levels of confidentiality and security. Therefore, my choicefor this research topic got spurred by the need to understand health information protection as well as its significance today.

In this research proposal, possible topics may arise. One of the issues would be State law concerning health information protection. Undeniably, every state has set laws touching on the medical requirements and ethics. Another topic that would get consideration is the significance of health information protection in the healthcare system today. Additionally, possible research questions include:
