The Gilded Age was marked by widespread industrialization, the development of new technologies, the expansion of corporate power, and an increased stratification of wealth. Workers responded to the impact these changes had on their lives through unionization and participation in strikes, boycotts, and demonstrations-some of them violent-as well as social and cultural activities.
