The formula to find real power

The formula to find real power is VI cos(pi). where cos (pi) is the power factor. Suppose if we want to find the reactive power for the same value of (pi) , (Reactive power= VI sin (pi)) mathematically, the value of reactive power will be zero. Practically it is not possible to have zero reactive power. Can anybody clarify the concept mathematically and theoretically?
