The following values of shear strength (in tons per square foot) were determined by unconfined compression tests of soil from Waukell Creek, California. Plot histograms of this data using four, six, and eight intervals. In the second case consider three different locations of the interval division points. With a few extreme points, as here, it may be advantageous to consider unequal intervals, longer in the right-hand tail.
