The excited gases in the tubes hydrogen and helium you used

Problem: The excited gases in the tubes (hydrogen and helium) you used also produced spectral lines in the ultraviolet and the infrared. These are not visible to our eyes, but could be view by other means.

Part A: Where would these lines appear on the spectrometer relative to the visible lines?

Can someone please explain what the heck is going on?
