The critical strategy that i chose was the biographical

The critical strategy that I chose was the biographical strategy. I chose this strategy because typically when you read a story, reading the author's background first can help you have a better understanding of the story. As well as, understand where the author is coming from when expressing his/her thoughts or ideas. For example, in the story, "A Rose For Emily," the narrator is speaking in first person. Therefore, getting a little background information on William Faulkner gives you a better understanding of the time period that the story takes place. It can also help you understand the author's opinions toward certain characters that they write about. I would say that this strategy helped me to gain a better understanding of the time period and setting in which Miss Emily lived, through some of what I would believe would be biased information and opinions about Emily through the eyes of William Faulkner.
