The collapse of what is the cultural commitment to

"The number one ethical issue today is the collapse of what is the cultural commitment to truth. This is, of course, at the core of Christian moral teaching. Christ described Himself as: "I am the way, the truth and ..." IT exists at the core of the organization. It is responsible for the "memory" of the unit, the flow of information within, and often even the interpretation of that information. This leads to principles like: 1) The sanctity of the data 2) Processing the data in an effort to find truth. Manipulating the data to yield what one wants is a lie, absolutely corrupt; 3) Managing the flow of data or processed information must be truth based. Controlling it so that the flows yield the effect one or one's superior wants is again lie. One can go on and on.

"A Christian in IT must understand that the responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the data and the processing/communicating system that moves the information based on that data through the organization (like blood through a body) is a SACRED trust. Being a good IT person begins with a personal commitment to Truth Himself. Begin by refusing to spin self-serve, etc. in your personal interactions and carry it through radically into your professional acts."
