Question- Radioactive tracer experiments can be conducted with a mixture of compounds labeled with different radioactive isotopes (i.e. radioactive carbon and hydrogen). Suppose liver cells are exposed to a mixture of glucose labeled with radioactive carbon and lactate labeled with radioactive hydrogen. Two experiments were conducted on this mixture. Exp. 1: The cells were treated with insulin and the glycogen formed was found to contain radioactive carbon but NOT hydrogen. Exp. 2. The cells were treated first with glucagon. Then the glucagon was removed and insulin added. This time the glycogen formed contained BOTH radioactive carbon and hydrogen. Explain the results of the two experiments.

If possible just a brief explanation how you got the answer?
