You are to choose and analyze a political issue (abortion, gun control, legalizing marijuana... BUT DO NOT WRITE ABOUT THOSE 3 ISSUES). In the introduction of your research paper, you need to give the reader some basic background information on your topic that suggests why the issue you are investigating is important and relevant.
The body of your research paper will have two components. In the first component, you will describe and explain why one group is for/ against your particular chosen political issue and in the second component, you will describe and explain why another group seems to think adversely - make sure you are clearly addressing arguments and counter-arguments.
You will finally conclude with your own arguments and opinion regarding the issue taking into consideration your personal characteristics and your own standing in your community (socio-economic factor, race, religion...). Make sure that your claims and support for them are clear in your own mind, and articulate them clearly on paper.
