The article "Statistical Evidence of Discrimination" (Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1982, pp.773-783) reported that, prior to 1965 in a southern state, 25% of those eligible to serve on a grand jury were black, and that in a random sample of 1050 individuals who were called to serve on grand juries, 177 were black.
