The Applied Magnetics Laboratory at the university is developing imaging techniques for monitoring drug delivery to tumors with nano-sized magnetic beads. For this project it has been determined that an amplifier with the following specifications is needed:

i) Open circuit voltage gain in |Vo/Vin| of 300 +- 10%.

ii) Input resistance greater than 1 k Ω.

iii) Output resistance should be less than 200 Ω.

iv) Use only capacitors, 1% resistors (Appendix H), and MPS 6521 or MPS 6523 transistors from ON Semiconductors (https://onsemi.com). You are not required to specify values for capacitors.

v) Operate on a single 5 V supply.

vi) Output voltage swing must be at least 2 V p-p. (That is, the output voltage must have room to swing by +- 1V from the Q-point.

vii) Does not exceed any of the maximum ratings on the transistors.

In your response, please provide the following.

a) Schematic diagram of final design with all component values indicated.

b) A short "theory of operation", that is, describe in words how the circuit works. For example, explain the purpose of each amplifier stage, what determines the gain and what determines the input or output resistance.

c) Analysis of the schematic in part a). The analysis must clearly demonstrate that the design meets the above requirements for the full range of β.

d) SPICE simulation showing voltage gain.
