Written Assignment - Essay
Task: Present an essay that critically reviews the current ethical debate concerning evidence-based practice in counselling.
Remember this review of the current debate needs to be balanced. This means you must think carefully about the arguments being put forward in the literature for and against the move toward evidence-based practice in counselling. It is not enough to simply provide a summation. You must demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the topic, and show that you have critically evaluated differing viewpoints put forward in the literature. When presenting supporting evidence for your arguments you must demonstrate a considered approach- e.g. is the evidence you are presenting backed up by other studies? Do some studies show conflicting evidence? Was there an issue with the study conducted that means you need to be careful in interpreting the results? Most importantly, you must demonstrate that you understand the topic in a number of contexts central to the debate.
