Your identity, individual background, perspectives and the ways in which you experience and think about the world, other people, and yourself, are uniquely your own. Though home culture does have a significant influence on your development and is intricately woven in your perspectives, the process of identity is highly individualized, which in part is one of the reasons we live in a world consisting of such wonderfully diverse individuals.
Within the context of any early childhood setting adults and children setting adults and children bring their own set of varied backgrounds, stories, experiences, and "truths" that shape how they develop, think,interact, view others, and what they need to survive and thrive.
In preparation for this assignment: Take time to review: What you have learned about "equity pedagogy'' (such as Anti-Bias Education). The poem "I AM
FROM: A Poem of My Cultural identities. Then, from the perspective of when you were a child, write your own "I AM FROM" poem.
*Write:
*A copy of your poem.
*The multiple cultural identities revealed in your poem and the social messages you may have received related to these identities.
*Two ways your identity development as a child could have been positively influenced by equity pedagogy, such as Anti-Bias.
