take the difference among your experimental value

Take the difference among your experimental value and your known value, and divide that difference by your know value.

Say you experimentally found the force of gravity to be 8m/s2, and you know that the true/known value is 9.8 m/s2, the percent error would be

l 8 - 9.8 l / 9.8= 0.1836 or 18.36%
