Assignment: Public Speaking
Length: 2 pages.
With the election season coming to a rapid conclusion (don't forget to vote!) -- I feel this would be a perfect opportunity to analyze some "public speaking in action". Here is what you need to do:
1) Keep up with the election results
2) Watch the speeches acknowledging the candidates win, and the other candidates loss (try not to rely on what the media is analyzing, I want you to listen directly to each candidates words)
3) Take notes on what you notice. Eye Contact, Did the speech seem rehearsed/expected?, Use of gestures, Vocal Tone, Pauses, Vocal Fillers etc.
4) Write in no more than 2 pages the similarities and differences you notice in both candidates in terms of public speaking techniques. (Remember, keep your political opinions to a minimal, ideally not present at all).
