Feminist scholars provided new perspectives in "gendering criminology" in important ways. For decades, women offenders and victims were ignored. Many of the feminist approaches have succeeded in unveiling the unique experiences specific to female criminality and victimization. Consequently, the diverse feminist perspectives also succeeded in bringing much needed attention to women as victims and survivors of sexual and physical violence.
