Problem:
The purpose of this chapter is to present a critical examination of existing literature and synthesize the existing literature to establish a comprehensive review. The literature review identifies the fundamentals relevant to the proposed topic of this study. A literature review is a crucial component of the overall research process, providing a theoretical framework for the proposed study. Exploring the fundamental issues identified in Chapter I, this chapter reiterates the topic, purpose, and research questions. Chapter II provides a comprehensive review of existing quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research, acknowledging what is currently known about reentry programs for incarcerated women and their specific needs. This chapter will focus on the importance of community involvement in successful reentry efforts, highlighting the roles that various stakeholders play in facilitating this engagement. The literature review will identify gaps and discrepancies within the literature. In addition, it will illustrate those areas that warrant additional investigation. The literature review is structured around significant thematic issues that are primary to reintegration for incarcerated women and the purpose of the project.
