Assignment task: Summarize your political participation by completing a journal entry. The entry should summarize what you did; this should include content material of what was being discussed and names of political leaders/ or commentators present. In addition reflect on your personal views of the issues discussed. Did any of the participants change the way you think about this issue? What did you learn about the issues? The journal entry should be a minimum of 250 words which is approximately one page in length double spaced 12 new roman fonts. I have included a list of possible political participation activities for you in the apply folder.
Activity list for Political Participation Journal
1. Write a letter to a Congressional or State Representative or local official in the state of Delaware and submit it as a journal entry.
2. Visit an open session of court or Legislative Hall in the state of Delaware.
3. Visit a board of education meeting or any local city council meeting in the state of Delaware.
4. Watch a political candidate's debate either in person or televised.
5. Watch a current TV program, you may choose from the provided list:
Face the Nation, Meet the Press, (basically any Sunday Morning Talk Show), The McLaughlin Group, Cross Fire, The Sean Hannity Show, Tucker Carlson, The Rachel Maddow Show, Hardball with Chris Matthews. CSPAN (if you can stand it!) Remember this is political commentary which includes specific viewpoints of the host and guest visitors. If you choose to watch a program for multiple journals than I ask that you watch different programs to get a different perspective. If you find a show you would like to watch and it is not listed here that is fine but please let me know.
