During this period, the Cold War heated up with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the U.S.'s attention was focused on the hostage crisis in Iran. Summarize the military aspects of aviation during this period.
Compare this period of tension with the actual wars in the twentieth century and how they spurred the development of aviation technology.
