Paper I: Book Review of Mary Grabar's Debunking Howard Zinn

i. Read only the following: A Note From the Author, the Introduction, and Chapters 1-4 and 9 of Mary Grabar's Debunking Howard Zinn. Look for the author's thesis and her supporting evidence throughout the chapters.

ii. In your introduction, identify Grabar's thesis and briefly summarize the major historical events that Grabar explores in chapters 1, 3, 4, and 9. End your introduction with, "In this paper, I will investigate and analyze..." Make sure you set this section off with the subhead, "Introduction." (half page)

iii. In the body of your paper, analyze chapters 1, 3, 4, and 9 by describing Howard Zinn's position on each topic. Summarize Grabar's best arguments to debunk Howard Zinn's arguments (one page per chapter). You will have to write concisely and work on your editing skills. Make sure each chapter you analyze has a creative subhead (see sample paper).

iv. Finally, in your conclusion, tell me the significance of Debunking Howard Zinn by answering the following three questions: 1) What impacts has Howard Zinn had according to the author? 2) What is the key(s) to understanding Howard Zinn and the debate over America's past according to Mary Grabar? And finally, make an assessment. 3) Were Mary Grabar's "strongest" arguments to debunk Zinn's understanding of United States history strong, weak, or a combination of both? Explain why. Make sure you set this section off with the subhead, "Conclusion." (1 to 1.5 pages)

v. Citation: Endnotes or footnotes with proper page-numbering must be done throughout the body of your paper when using quotes or referencing themes from passages in the book. I need to know where in the text you are drawing your information, so cite the page numbers often.

Paper II: Book Review on Mary Grabar's Debunking The 1619 Project

i. Read the entire book. Look for the author's thesis and her best supporting evidence throughout each chapters.

ii. In your introduction, identify Grabar's thesis and briefly summarize the major historical events that Grabar explores. End your introduction with, "In this paper, I will investigate and analyze..." Make sure you set this section off with the subhead, "Introduction." (half page)
