Suggestion for how they can maximize their learning

Scenario 1: The student has an exam in the morning and is cramming for the exam. They plan to spend the entire night studying, hoping the information will stick. Based on what we have learned about our memory and the information-processing system, what should the student have done to maximize their learning in order to improve their chances of doing well on the exam?

Scenario 2: The student is reading for their literature class. Every few minutes the student turns to look at their cell phone which chimes every time there is a notification or a text. What impact, if any, is the cell phone having on the student's learning? Explain and offer a suggestion for how they can maximize their learning.

Scenario 3:

The student is struggling in math class, but does not seek out help because they believe they are not good at math and believe no matter what they do, they are going to do poorly. What is the student experiencing and what advice would you offer the student in order turn things around and salvage their math class?

Scenario 4:

The student recently took a history exam. The student reviewed key terms and read their notes repeatedly. They did poorly on the exam because the exam did not test the student's knowledge of key terms and instead focused on historical events, their causes and their historical legacy. Why do you think the student did not do well and what could they do differently to prepare for their next history exam?
