Pseudopodia typically present; flagella present in developmental stages of some species; free living or parasitic.
Locomotion by lobopodia, tilopodia or reticulopodia or by protoplasmic flow without production of pseudopodia.
Examples: Amoeba, Entamoeba, Diflugia, Arcella, Globigerina, Nodosaria.
Often spherical; usually planktonic; pseudopodia in form of axopodia; skeleton when present composed of organic matter and/or silica, or of strontium sulphate; reproduction asexual andlor sexual; feeding cells rarely flagellated; in many species small flagellated stages whose exact nature (gametes or spore) is still uncertain.
