Studying about scared straight

Assignment:

In the 1970’s, federal tax dollars were used to invest in Scared Straight programs where juveniles labeled at-risk visited adult prisons and would hear about the lives and realities of adult inmates. Recent evidence based research suggests that “scare straight” programs are ineffective. However, the local juvenile court is looking to invest in similar programs to address the rise in delinquency. Before the court officials spend any money on scared straight programs, you will have an opportunity to share your thoughts concerning effective intervention programs.   You have the opportunity to address court officials and inform them on how to spend tax payer dollars.

Your answer must be written as a brief letter to court officials describing what does and does not work. Provide suggestions and recommendations concerning programing ideas that will address the rise in juvenile delinquency. Please note: You have the option to suggest a program you have created and/or recommend a program that exist. Your recommendations should be supported by evidence based research concerning “what works”. If you do not recommend a program, be sure you identify key principles of effective interventions so that court officials are aware of how to spend their resources.

Your answer must be, typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format.
