Rationale and learning objective:

This assignment will afford students the opportunity to begin to understand the application of theory to practice. Students will have the opportunity to become further acquainted with real world workplace dynamics and management process in an organization.

Requirements:

Students shall interview a person who currently or has worked in a management position and write a 4-6 page paper about the interview subject. The interview should include, but not limited to questions regarding employee selection, job fit, employee engagement, team building and conflict resolution, and management style, challenges, and rewards.

2. Book Review

Rational and learning objective:

This assignment will allow students to broaden their understanding of the theories and concepts relevant to various areas of workforce dynamics such as organizational behavior, the management process, team and group dynamics, and management of human resources.

Requirements:

Students will select a book relevant to any topic area covered in this course and complete a book review papers.

The paper should be 5-pages in length (including separate title and reference pages), which means the paper will consist of 3 full pages of written content presented in AM format. Papers should be structured as follows:

1. Introduction of the book including the title, author(s) and year of publication, and the main topic

2. Brief summary of the book including key points made by the author(s)

3. 5 cited references per page

4. Who should read this book (e.g.. everyone. students. employees. managers)?

5. Your critique of the book - what did you like about the book, its strengths, weaknesses, would you recommend the book to others and why or why not

6. Concluding remarks (the bottom line)

3. Current Trends and Events Article Analysis Journal

Rational and learning objective:

By critically analyzing current economic and societal trends relevant to organizations they will gain an understanding of the impact on employers, employees and job seekers.

Requirements:

Each week students are to read a current article of their choosing and write a 1-2 page a (200-250 words) A total of fifteen (15) entries are required. The paper must include a brief summary of the article (half of the length of the paper), as well as your personal critique and perspective of the article.
