Structural notches
In t he case of solid solution strengthened alloys and age hardenabled steel, the variation in heat i/o during welding may cause localized grain coarsening or over-ageing. That leads to difference In strength properties causing structural notches. The Microscopic checking of the structure is essential to detect their presence.
