Steps of Research Process:

Identify the Problem: The first  task  in  the  planning stage  is  to identify and stage  the problem, as you have  already learnt in the  earlier sub-section  of  this unit. This  is  the most difficult part  of  research. The researchers begin with the question -  such as "what  is  the problem"?  can  I prevent bedsore?  "What alternative method  can I use  that would be more effective?

These questions help  the  researcher to  identify the problem  area which  is very broad hazy at  first and gradually  focuses on  the more pertinent aspect of  this question, that problem  to be  studied.

The process that the  researcher uses  to  arrive  at  the research problem  is  called form the problem. This helps  in defining the  problem and  the  research objectives clearly, problem statement  should cover what  is being  studied  in order to  implicitly  indicate what  is not studied. Therefore, research problem  are questions posed for  solutions. The researchable not  verifiable, that is, the  researcher can collect observable data and verify statistic. One also looks  in whether the problem  is practical, that is, "is  it needed?"%  it important?"  Is  the  study feasible?" Will  it add  to nursing knowledge?"

Another characteristic that the researcher looks for is  the  cost in terms of energy, and time. The researcher also should  ask herselfhimself  whether helshe is interested  the  subject of  study  as well  as  qualified  to do the  study. A researcher does not work someone else's vested interests. The justification is based on  the  researcher's own experiences, the  experiences of others and the societies, benefit, the accumulated data already existing  in  the literature.
