These laws are created and passed in the state legislature and commonly compiled together in a code book or statutes.
Research your state's (Illinois) law regarding armed robbery. You may use the Internet and the Argosy University online library resources to locate your state laws. View The Law Library of Congress that has a guide for each state that can help you find your state's laws and regulations.
Write in a minimum of 250 words and answer the following questions:
- Discuss whether your state's (Illinois) statutes indicate a specific sentence or whether there is some discretion for the judge.
- Find out if your state (Illinois) has a "three-strikes" law or other sentencing laws that the judges must observe.
- Do you agree with the position your state (Illinois) has taken on these issues?
