Problem: Tom Walker, a 45-year-old Caucasian male who is a reliable historian, presents with a bad flare of his atopic dermatitis (eczema) and right knee pain. For the past month, Tom has been using OTC hydrocortisone cream for his eczema flare, which he states is really bad in the bend of his arms (9/10). The itching has been so bad that it is keeping him awake at night, and his skin has little cracks that bleed. He loves to take hot showers but notices he itches more after them. He states the OTC hydrocortisone cream does help his Itching a little bit. He has had these flareups on occasion in the past.
