Molybdenum is intimately related to nitrogen metabolism of plants. It is part of the nitrate reductase system which helps to utilise nitrate for nitrogen requirements prior to amino acid synthesis. It is also essential for symbiotic and nonsymbiotic nitrogen fixing organisms.
