Goal of the Essay: The genre of this essay is argumentative. Write an academic argument in which you clearly express your stance or view on one controversial issue and, concomitantly, identify several logical, rational reasons that validate your view stance.
Technical Requirements: 1) must be double spaced 2) adhere to standard MLA formatting guidelines 3) be 1-3 pages in length 4)clearly identify the subject of your argument 5) include a clear, concise thesis statement that clearly indicates your stance on the topic as well as contains brief introduction to the reasons that you will argue to justify your stance 6) Find and cite at least one source in which you will incorporate into your argument

6-Reparations for African Americans
7-Abolishing Grades in higher education

These are some extra pointers he gave us:
1) Pay close attention to the last sentence of the introductory paragraph and notice how it is structured and the content of the sentence (i.e. clearly state your stance on the topic and briefly introduce the reader to the reasons you will argue in support of your stance),
2) Notice that the focus/topic of each paragraph after the introduction reflects the order of the reasons listed in the thesis statement,
3) Notice that the paragraph before the concluding paragraph addresses the opposition,
4) Notice that the thesis is restated in the concluding paragraph, and
5) make certain that your Works Cited page appears at the end of your document on a seperate page and is in correct MLA format (refer to your Hacker text).
