Sstematic review of trials or a single treatment trial

CAHSL for GRADING:

1. Systematic review of trials or a single treatment trial; you may choose a meta-analysis of observational studies; do not choose an individual observational study or a systematic review of observational studies that does not include a meta-analysis.

2. Since 2000; in English; must be retrievable electronically in case I want to look at it

3. It must be related to oral health, somehow. You can think broadly, but it must have either a treatment or outcome related to oral health. For example, do not choose the evidence of VitaminC and the common cold; or a chemotherapy trial on lung cancer. You could consider any areas of prevention or treatment for caries, periodontal disease, oral cancer, TMJ, oral pain; behaviors related to oral health such as, oral hygiene, tobacco, diet, behavior change for improving oral health, a trial on access to care for oral health. There are many.

4. The target of the study must be patient oral health or at least changing providers or the system to improve patient health

5. If you are really in doubt about the suitability of a study, then it probably isn't eligible. Unfortunately, I cannot pre-approve or pre-review papers. Apply the eligibility criteria.

6. A word of caution on systematic reviews: there can be reviews with 1 or 2 studies or the authors claim there is insufficient information to draw a conclusion. That will NOT be acceptable; in that situation, you will not be able to demonstrate your skill at reading the review.

7. For trials, do not choose an obviously small study (15 patients); a study with no control group or other study methods that are clearly poor;
