Split of germany after world war ii

Assignment:

Respond to the following information below:

The Cold War was caused by this split of Germany after world war 2. After the war the two main countries with power were the US and Russia. The two decided to split the land and both had very different governments. With Russia having communism and the US being a democracy the two surely butted heads. Russia wanted to spread communism throughout Europe. The US obviously didn't want this. This caused the Cold War. I think it could have been prevented by keeping power hungry countries from taking the land. I think the United Nations could have kept it in it's care until the country could rebuild itself.

Respond to the following information below:

I believe that General MacArthur should have sent troops to gain control of North Korea. At the time, the world was dealing with the the threat of communism spreading. If we took control of North Korea, it would have drove out the communist government in the area. Also, if we took control of the country then, we would not have to deal with the problems that they and their leader are causing today. The country is completely communist to this day and is controlling of its citizens. If we would have handled this problem years ago, we would not have to be dealong with this today.
