Specific study of Trauma, Substance Abuse
As discussed in last week’s chat, specific study of Trauma, Substance Abuse, and other Mental Health Disorders on the lifespan is limited.
Your assignment is to choose one phase of life (ex. childhood/late adulthood) and find research on trauma and another comorbid disorder that has been studied on that particular group. Papers will at least answer the following questions:
1) What aspect of the lifespan and disorders were discussed? Please summarize the article and be careful not to copy and paste the article but rather discuss it in your own words.
2) What is unique (specific characteristics) about this phase of life?
3) What did you learn from this article?
4) What were the limitations of the study done (if this was not a research article what is the limitations of the proposed theory)?
5) Elaborate on anything the article did not cover regarding the unique needs of this phase of life and how a trauma related disorder plus another condition impacts them.
6) Make sure to Cite the paper and feel free to use your book and any other articles to help you (again make sure to cite).
