Sowk 4220 the rising strong process paper rubric

Personal Development and Self-Care Northwestern State University

The Rising Strong Process Paper Rubric Throughout the course, students will be asked weekly to read through Rising Strong by Br ene' Brown. As this book is the central focus of this class, students will be required to complete weekly tasks/assignments regarding Rising Strong which will culminate in the Week 8 Assignment. Students will put the principles of the Rising Strong process and will write a 3-5 page paper discussing their personal process and conclusions found through undertaking the process.
The paper must address the following content (suggested that you use section headings that are similar):

1. What areas in life do you feel most vulnerable and why?

2. What does failure and shame feel like for you? How does it manifest itself physically, emotionally, and in your behavior?

3. Considering the avoidance patterns (off-loading hurt) found on pages 59-65, which do you tend to gravitate towards? Give an example.

3. Consider a situation that has happened this semester or last. Formulate a short SFD and talk about how you did or could apply the rising strong process (reckoning, rumble, and rising). How could you have changed the pattern for yourself (or how did you)?

4. Has reading this book pointed out communication or life patterns that you need to change (or confirmed those you already had)? What are they and how so?

5. Lastly, what were your impressions of the book? How has it changed (or not changed) your thinking process as it pertains to failure and loss? What stood out to you the most?

Please note, for students who did not read the book, the above questions will be difficult to answer. It is imperative that you have read the concepts before writing the paper. It will be obvious if you did not read the book
