Some see government welfare programs as inherently improper when they require confiscation of the property or wealth of some to benefit others. While they may support and commend charitable work to help those less fortunate, they see government programs that are not voluntary as a kind of social theft and violation of their rights. Others believe that there is no principle of distributive justice that makes it permissible for some to acquire substantial wealth while others lack back necessities in life.
